Staff Software Engineer, Wallets, Liquidity & Bridging
Job Description
This Staff-level role owns the architecture and technical direction of the systems behind Coinbase's wallets, liquidity, and cross-chain bridging — the infrastructure that constructs, signs, broadcasts, and reconciles on-chain transactions across both custodial and non-custodial flows. The engineer will evolve Coinbase's distributed Go backend services for cross-chain liquidity movement and help decompose legacy systems into modular platform services.
Responsibilities
- Own architecture and technical direction for wallet, liquidity, and bridging systems
- Evolve distributed Go backend services that move liquidity across chains
- Decompose legacy systems into modular, service-oriented platform components
- Partner with Trading, Custody, and Staking teams on cross-team technical decisions
- Own reliability and observability for Tier-0 wallet services
What we are looking for
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep Go and distributed-systems expertise
- Hands-on experience with blockchain transaction construction, signing, and bridging
- Track record driving cross-team architecture decisions at a senior/staff level
- Strong understanding of custodial and non-custodial wallet transaction lifecycles
Additional Information
This is a senior architecture-ownership role for Tier-0 infrastructure — the wallet and bridging systems sit at the center of how Coinbase moves customer assets on-chain, so the position carries outsized reliability and security responsibility relative to a typical staff engineering req.
