Software Engineer, Blockchain Platform Nodes
Job Description
Coinbase's CB Node team operates every blockchain node powering the assets Coinbase supports — more than 55 protocols spanning Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, and others. This Software Engineer role focuses on performance analysis and optimization of that node fleet, building observability and automated-failover systems, and supporting protocol upgrades with an eye toward reliability and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize performance across Coinbase's blockchain node fleet spanning 55+ protocols
- Build observability, health-check, and automated-failover tooling for node infrastructure
- Right-size infrastructure to reduce spend without compromising reliability
- Support blockchain protocol upgrades from a performance and reliability perspective
What we are looking for
- 2+ years of systems-level performance analysis or profiling experience
- Proficiency in Go
- Comfort operating distributed systems in production
- Familiarity with node and consensus protocol behavior is a plus
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or pprof
