Senior Software Engineer, Java (Ops Hub)

Bitpanda is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to join its Ops Hub team in Vienna. This role builds and owns the payments, compliance, and risk infrastructure that underpins Bitpanda's regulated multi-asset platform — including payment-processing pipelines, PSP integrations, real-time transaction screening, risk-detection pipelines, alerting, and case-management tooling. Hybrid: 3 days/week in Vienna.

• Build and maintain payment-processing services and integrations with payment service providers (PSPs)
• Develop real-time transaction screening pipelines for compliance and regulatory requirements
• Implement risk-detection pipelines, alerting systems, and case-management tooling
• Design event-driven microservice architectures using Kafka or ZeroMQ
• Collaborate with compliance, risk, and product teams on regulatory infrastructure requirements
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of critical payment infrastructure

• Strong Java / Spring Boot expertise with production microservices experience
• Experience with Kafka or ZeroMQ for event-driven messaging architectures
• REST API design and implementation in distributed systems
• Proficiency with Postgres or MongoDB
• AWS / Kubernetes cloud-native infrastructure experience
• CI/CD pipeline experience and DevOps best practices
