Sanctions Crypto Investigator

Robinhood is hiring a Sanctions Crypto Investigator for its Financial Crimes Sanctions team, which identifies and mitigates sanctions risk across crypto, brokerage and money movement.

Responsibilities

• Investigate crypto sanctions alerts, including customer screening matches, deposits, withdrawals, wallets and blockchain transactions.
• Use blockchain analytics tools (such as TRM Labs) to assess direct and indirect sanctions exposure and possible evasion patterns.
• Review potential matches against OFAC and other sanctions lists and document decisions.
• Escalate potential violations, including assets that may need to be blocked or rejected.
• Write investigative narratives and escalation recommendations.
• Track emerging crypto sanctions risks and regulatory developments.
• Work with Compliance, Legal, Engineering and Product on complex cases and screening improvements.
• Suggest workflow and automation improvements, and support examinations, audits and reporting.

What we are looking for

• 3+ years in financial crimes, sanctions, AML compliance or a related regulated field.
• Experience investigating crypto transactions and sanctions or financial crime risks.
• Working knowledge of blockchain, digital assets and wallet flows.
• Experience with blockchain analytics tools such as TRM Labs, Chainalysis or Elliptic.
• Strong understanding of OFAC regulations and sanctions evasion methods.
• Strong analytical, writing and communication skills.

Additional Information

In person at least 3 days per week. Stated base pay: USD 94,000 - 110,000 in New York; USD 82,000 - 97,000 in Denver and Westlake. Also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits. Application deadline: 31 December 2026.
