Protocol Security Engineer

Matter Labs is hiring a Protocol Security Engineer to help protect the core of ZKsync: its smart contracts, ZK circuits, and blockchain nodes. The role threat-models and reviews Solidity contracts and Rust state-transition code, tracks industry exploits to convert lessons into concrete fixes, and embeds secure-design practices across teams without formal authority over them.

• Threat-model and review Solidity smart contracts and Rust state-transition code
• Own secure architecture assessment for newly adopted protocol components
• Track industry exploits and translate lessons into concrete fixes for ZKsync
• Embed secure-design practices across engineering teams through influence rather than authority
• Join incident response efforts under time pressure when needed

• Demonstrated track record in security engineering or research — threat modeling, code review, or vulnerability research
• Proficiency in a strongly-typed language, with Rust or Solidity a plus
• Deep grounding in algorithms, data structures, and distributed-systems debugging
• Familiarity with C++, Go, or Scala is a plus

This role extends Matter Labs' security hiring beyond general infrastructure security into protocol- and circuit-level threat modeling, reflecting the added attack surface that comes with ZKsync's shift toward Prividium and private settlement infrastructure for regulated institutions.
