Head of Security

Helius is hiring its first Head of Security, who will own security across the company and lead it hands-on while building toward a team. The role reports to the COO and Head of Engineering. Top priorities are establishing a strong security posture across the engineering platform and owning incident response.

Responsibilities

• Lead security at Helius, setting direction and owning execution across infrastructure, cloud and production systems
• Own incident response end to end: detection, response, runbooks, on-call readiness and tabletop exercises
• Establish a strong security posture across the engineering platform, including identity and access management, secrets and key management, network segmentation, logging, monitoring and detection
• Review and manage third-party and supply-chain risk
• Partner with engineering to embed security into how the team builds and ships
• Lead the compliance roadmap and respond to customer security reviews
• Hire, develop and grow the security team
• Own the security strategy and roadmap, and maintain the threat model and risk register

What we are looking for

• 8+ years in security, including securing high-availability, internet-facing infrastructure at scale
• Strong engineering skills; reads and writes code
• Deep expertise in cloud security, bare metal and production environments
• Hands-on detection and response experience, having led through a real incident
• Experience building or significantly scaling a security function
• Experience securing developer products, APIs or platforms
• Nice to have: SOC 2 audit experience; security leadership at a high-growth startup
