General Counsel
Job Description
Wormhole Labs is seeking its first General Counsel to build and lead the legal function for the leading cross-chain interoperability protocol. You will provide strategic legal advice across regulatory compliance, token matters, commercial agreements, and corporate governance as Wormhole continues to expand across 30+ blockchain networks.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the legal function from the ground up, including managing outside counsel
- Advise leadership on regulatory strategy across crypto, DeFi, and cross-chain protocols
- Draft and negotiate technology partnerships, integration agreements, and licensing deals
- Oversee corporate governance, entity structure, and compliance in relevant jurisdictions
- Advise on token-related matters including token distributions, grants, and DAO governance
What we are looking for
- JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership
- 8+ years of legal experience, with in-house or crypto/fintech regulatory background
- Deep understanding of blockchain protocols, DeFi, and token regulatory frameworks
- Experience navigating regulatory uncertainty in emerging technology sectors
- Track record of handling complex cross-border legal matters
