General Counsel
Job Description
Paxos Labs builds enterprise infrastructure for trusted onchain financial products, spanning stablecoins, tokenized commodities, and institutional DeFi. The company is hiring its first General Counsel to own legal and regulatory strategy as the sole legal officer, building the legal function from scratch.
This is a foundational legal hire for a heavily in-person New York City team, with significant ownership over corporate structure, regulatory positioning, and commercial dealmaking.
Responsibilities
- Own legal and regulatory strategy across the company's product lines
- Draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements
- Lead regulatory analysis covering securities, commodities, money-transmission, and VASP positioning
- Own corporate structure and governance
- Own the compliance stack, including AML, sanctions, and KYB
- Handle employment, IP, privacy, and general corporate matters
What we are looking for
- JD with active US bar admission
- 8-12 years of experience combining top law firm and in-house digital asset/fintech work
- Digital asset regulatory expertise
- Transactional depth in secured lending and structured finance
