Staff Software Engineer, Data

Dune, the multi-chain crypto analytics platform, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Data Foundation team, which owns how raw blockchain data gets into Dune, how it's modeled internally, and how it's exposed externally. It's a senior, high-autonomy role: the team hands this person ambiguous product requirements and expects a design, a sequencing plan, and a set of tasks the rest of the team can pick up. The stack spans Go, Kotlin, Rust, and Python, and the role also carries design-review and mentorship responsibilities across Dune's roughly 60-person, fully remote engineering organization.

• Turn ambiguous product requirements into technical designs, interfaces, and sequenced workstreams
• Break large problems into scoped work that other engineers can pick up and own
• Drive architectural decisions across the data platform and own components end to end
• Design for correctness and performance under real-world ingestion and processing volume
• Raise the bar on design reviews, testing practices, and work breakdown across the team
• Mentor engineers by example within a fully distributed team

• Strong computer science fundamentals applied to distributed data systems
• Experience designing and shipping systems with explicit contracts, state transitions, and failure modes
• Comfort working with ambiguity, including scoping and defending decisions with product, customers, and the team
• Practical experience using AI tools in day-to-day engineering work
• Strong written communication for a distributed, largely async team
• Experience with data lake formats such as Parquet or Iceberg is a plus, not required
