Job Description
This role architects the agentic AI systems behind Coinbase's customer-support and compliance automation, redesigning those operations around AI agents. The staff engineer owns technical direction for orchestration, grounding, and guardrail systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect agentic AI systems for compliance and CX automation
- Design APIs and evaluation frameworks that keep agents grounded and minimize hallucination
- Set technical direction/architecture patterns for AI automation with engineering leadership
- Build reusable orchestration primitives usable beyond the initial use case
- Mentor engineers on production LLM system design
What we are looking for
- 8+ years software engineering, including architecting distributed systems and shipping production AI/ML
- Experience improving grounding/reducing hallucination and building guardrails
- Deep API/orchestration/evaluation-framework design experience for agentic systems at scale
