Senior Software Engineer (Backend): Layer 1 Digital Asset
Job Description
The Digital Assets domain owns BVNK's self-hosted, self-custody digital asset payments infrastructure ('Layer1'). As a Senior Software Engineer on this squad, you will design and build core blockchain infrastructure across services including Crypto Service, Blockchain Provider Services, Crypto Orchestration Service and Vault Service, enabling secure address generation, deposits, withdrawals, custody and on-chain operations across multiple networks.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain high-performance backend services for blockchain integrations and digital asset custody
- Build and evolve integrations with blockchain networks and custody infrastructure for multi-chain operations
- Contribute to Layer1 platform architecture ensuring reliability, security and data integrity
- Build APIs supporting the full digital asset lifecycle consumed across the platform
- Drive observability, performance and incident response improvements
- Mentor peers and champion engineering best practices
What we are looking for
- 5+ years backend engineering with deep Java/Kotlin (or JVM-based) proficiency
- Experience with distributed microservices, PostgreSQL and event-driven architecture
- Cloud platform experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Understanding of key management, wallet architecture or self-custody patterns preferred
- Experience in fintech, payments or high-availability transactional systems a plus
