Software Engineer, Python (Asset Pricing and Hedging)

Bitpanda is a European fintech company founded in 2014 in Vienna, offering trading in cryptocurrencies, stocks, ETFs, precious metals, and commodities to more than 7 million customers across Europe. Its mission is to simplify wealth creation and make investing accessible to everyone.

In this role, you will help build and maintain the core system that handles pricing and risk management across all of Bitpanda's asset classes — crypto, stocks, metals, ETFs, and fiat. You will work on adding new assets, integrating with exchanges, and building tools like price charts and leveraged crypto product systems. This is a high-impact backend engineering role where your code directly supports critical trading infrastructure.

The role is based in Barcelona, Spain with a hybrid model of 3 days on-site per week. Relocation support is provided.

• Build high-performance, scalable backend systems using Python that power Bitpanda's core trading infrastructure
• Design and maintain clean, testable, and maintainable code across a robust microservice ecosystem
• Work on the evolution of the event-driven architecture, helping scale systems for future growth
• Tackle complex, cross-domain challenges in pricing, hedging, and asset management across crypto, stocks, metals, and more
• Work closely with product and other engineering teams on critical business functions across the company

• 2+ years of hands-on Python development experience in product-driven environments, building real-world scalable systems
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and websockets, with the ability to design fast, reliable APIs using FastAPI
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka or ZeroMQ
• Bonus: experience with AWS, interest in crypto, blockchain, or financial markets
