Associate General Counsel, EU Legal

Coinbase's EU Legal team advises its European businesses on launching products, entering markets and serving customers. The Associate General Counsel works with business leaders, Compliance and the global Legal team on EU e-money, payments, financial services and digital asset requirements.

Responsibilities

• Advise on EU and international e-money, payment services, financial services and digital asset requirements, together with Compliance.
• Advise regional entities on new products, intercompany arrangements, commercial relationships, banking partnerships and retail and institutional terms.
• Guide product launches, market expansion and marketing across jurisdictions.
• Monitor European and international legal and policy developments and support advocacy for digital asset regulation.
• Assess legal and regulatory risks and manage outside counsel on specialist matters.

What we are looking for

• Qualified lawyer in the UK, Ireland, France or Luxembourg with 7+ years advising regulated EU e-money, payment or financial services firms.
• Strong knowledge of EU financial services regulation such as PSD2, the Second Electronic Money Directive and/or MiFID II.
• Preferred: digital asset expertise including MiCA registration regimes, and experience engaging with regulators such as the CSSF or Central Bank of Ireland.
• Preferred: in-house experience.
• Responsible use of generative AI tools with human oversight.

Additional Information

Hybrid role in Luxembourg. Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only, with quarterly in-person working sessions. Employer-stated base salary: €184,000, excluding equity and bonus.
