Senior Software Engineer, New Markets

Alpaca is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, New Markets to design, implement, and maintain the systems and services powering its agent-first brokerage infrastructure for stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, and fixed income. The role combines hands-on engineering with regional recruitment, mentoring, and acting as incident commander during regional business hours.

• Design a highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage system
• Develop and enhance middle- and back-office systems, including gRPC microservices and a React-based internal admin UI
• Work with Alpaca's core teams to support multiple languages, currencies, and markets
• Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs to maintain system integrity and performance
• Act as incident commander and lead cross-functional regional projects

• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages with strong system architecture skills
• Ability to act as incident commander and troubleshoot production incidents with authority
• Strong computer science fundamentals and software engineering architecture experience
• Experience with event-driven design and ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team
